QR Codes
QR Codes (Quick Response Codes), enormously popular in Japan, the UK and other countries are rapidly gaining popularity in America. The code provides a "hardlink" from the printed world to websites, videos and music online. Users with a camera phone or webcam equipped with the correct reader software can scan the image of the QR Code taking them straight to the internet.
Almost all smart phones either come equipped with the software to scan them, or free software can be downloaded straight to the phone.
The same is true for laptops with built in cameras, both Mac and PC.
Check out some of the ways QR is being used around the world:
Laptop users, both Mac and PC can download free reader software from http://icandy.ricohinnovations.com/rocket2/
Your business, no matter how small or large, could use QR Codes in a number of ways.
- • Adding your website as a QR Code on the back of your business card can give clients an instant link to your company.
- • A QR Code could link every product in your catalog to a video demonstration.
- • Coupons could link to a special discount code to be used later when ordering.
- • Restaurants could offer up-to-date specials by adding a QR Code to their printed ads.
- • College catalogs can become interactive with online resources linked to each department or major.
- • Bands and performance artists could link to videos or a free MP3 download that are "hidden" from normal online links.
- • Hardlink to Facebook!
