We're a predominantly Heidelberg shop. Our "big presses" are all Heidelberg, most of our bindery and post-press equipment is Heidelberg, even our prepress system is Heidelberg. That said, we were able to integrate our Remote Access File Transfer system direclty into our Heidelberg Prinect prepress workflow. In other words, it's like FTP on steroids.

With Prinect Remote Access, Heidelberg is paving the way for a cutting-edge and efficient web-based production workflow between the print shop and customer. Information, approval and coordination processes in the production workflow are automated and therefore significantly streamlined. This also makes communication between all parties more convenient, reliable and transparent than ever before.

The service spectrum is considerably expanded with Prinect Remote Access. The portal provides ideal conditions for fully harnessing all automation and savings potential right through to the print stage. Print shop time and labor can be significantly reduced.

Technical and Commercial Preflight

Uploaded documents are automatically subjected to a preflight check. This takes into account all the technical requirements for production and also matches the order data to the production data supplied. If any technical defects are present, such as missing fonts or images, they are immediately recognized and reported. The same applies to all parameters of the order, e.g. inking or number of pages that do not correspond to the data supplied. The result of the preflight is shown to the customer immediately. Pages deemed suitable for production are automatically processed with customer-specific and job-specific parameters. The customers receive their softproof for final approval straight away.

Final Online Softproofing

With Prinect Remote Access, online softproofing can be performed in PDF mode or pixel mode as required. The softproofs are generated from the same RIP and with the same settings as for the final, high-resolution plate output. If the print shop customer chooses the highest quality level, ROOM mode, the softproofs are directly generated from the previously created high-resolution data. They can be separately and systematically color-transformed for any screen on the basis of monitor profiles.
